Khichidi

The Indian Khichidi is a variation of the British Breakfast from colonial India, known as kedgeree. This is basically a mish mash of split moong dal and rice. It is known more for its nutritive value than for taste. It is considered an important meal that rejuvenates the mind and the body especially when one is convalescing, and is also a very balanced meal by itself. There are quite a few variations to this khichidi and can be accompanied by pickle or yogurt A few variations of the khichidi are the sabudana (sago) khichidi or daliya khichidi.
